Was there ever a tighter band?

They're good, but hardly Enrico and The Caruso's.

Re: The Exploding Hearts

They're great. Highly recommend Terry Six's stuff with The Nice Boys and Terry & Louie.

Good to see there's some happiness in Sabresworld at the end of this nightmare season.

Re: How much are pitchfork endorsed indie bands hated on here?

Doherty had a great line about how you wouldn't hear Muse blasting out the windows on a council estate -- then added after a cinematic pause, "maybe they keep their windows shut."

Re: Synths/Drum Machines used by the Clash

Yeah a lot of old school home organs had built in drum boxes. They would have pre set patterns like Rock, Waltz, Swing, Polka, etc.. And yeah the mellotron must have been baffling to people at the time. It’s like electronic, yet really earthy and warble sounding. Unique for sure. I think the same s...

Re: The Clash observations thread.

People love talking about The Smiths, for example. People do not talk about The Clash in the same way.

Re: How much are pitchfork endorsed indie bands hated on here?

Built to Spill and Modest Mouse will always evoke a very particular kind of person I'd run into in my undergrad days, so I cannot ever like them. Wouldn't really go out of my way to listen to any of these, tbh. They're probably fine, but I find more fulfilment deep diving into no-hit Iowan power pop...

Re: The Clash observations thread.

The Clash don’t really seem to be as trendy to namedrop as other rock bands of their stature. Kind of odd. Idk maybe I’m rambling Yeah, I definitely get that vibe as well. I wonder if it's a weird thing where people who discover/love the band in their adolescence (which is where the most enduring b...

Re: Synths/Drum Machines used by the Clash

Personally, I think I an interesting documentary still to be made would be interviews with just the drummers, Terry, Rob, Topper & Pete - Not talking too much about their contribution or how they ended up in the drum chair, but rather offering up their their perspectives as to what was going on dur...
