Ranking the Discographies

When I was a mopey young person—instead of the whacky, permasmiling sea otter I am now—I would have emphasized the stuff from Disintegration down. But I much prefer the poppier side of the Cure now. I'd like to put Wish at #1 just for "Friday" alone, but as an album it's not as good as the two above it.

I may have shared this story before, but I saw the Cure on their Wild Mood Swings tour and there was a group of goths sitting near us - one dude was even wearing a black cape. They did not appear happy that the band were really embracing their poppier side that night/tour. Robert Smith played the show wearing a hockey jersey. They stood for the entire show and did not move. It was kind of comical.

Bloodflowers, though, suffers by its genesis of trying to create a trilogy out of it, Porno, and Disintegration. You have to let these things happen naturally.
