My pledge reward for that McGeoch documentary was a shirt he wore on the PiL Happy? tour. Would probably fetch some cash.
Especially if you've got some kind of certificate of authenticity.
I'm just going to wear it anyway. Under an open, collared shirt since it has his stage sweatstains on it.
John Lydon was contemptuous of that sweat, you know!
All the more reason to mingle it with my own.

I ended up buy that McGeoch biography. Bit of a shrug for me, but it was striking that Lydon didn't participate.

I think I recall mentioning that it would be a shrug, just a recounting of his life.

It's good that his life was documented, not allowed to end up a postpunk footnote, but it ended up kind of a work-for-hire recounting.

I liked that it was longer than the Banshees and Magazine books, at least.

It was in the same vein as the biography of Mark Hollis. There's plenty of stuff in both, but other than making the claim that This Guy Is Important, it was a thin experience for me.

I've seen some of this shit sell. I got rid of a ton of old band t-shirts when I lost a bunch of weight at a yard sale for pennies and I'm forever kicking myself for it. I've seen some shirts I used to have go for (high) hundreds of dollars on ebay and depop and whatnot. Can't really fathom it, but fashion people are even crazier than music people.
I had to dig my Beck tour 97 tour shirt out of the trash when my friend told me to try to sell it. Sold it for $40 on Ebay.
I think I kept a lot of my old t-shirts. I never wear them, but I'm sure I have some good ones stashed away.
I misplaced a shirt that I had from DM's Violator tour that was the perfect blend of still looked good, but was worn out/perfectly threadbare.

I had some irrational hatreds when I was young. It was mainly for groups that weren't The Smiths/Morrissey because I thought they might be stealing column inches from them in MelodyMaker/NME. One of those was The Levellers who had the added drawback of looking awful too. But I've found that I quite like a few songs that have randomly shown up recently on playlists generated for me.

The back catalogue is too overwhelming - something like 12 or 13 albums. Any recommendations on the first few to listen to?

How funny—they were namechecked in the chapter of John Robb's History of Goth that I read last night, made me want to check them out too.

Dunno... the one I heard today and liked was 'Just the One' - I'll probably start with the album that's on

Joe Strummer plays some piano on that one.

Was gonna mention that. They've done some collaborations with some other quality musicians. And maybe Im confusing myslef with an NMA connection.

The Levellers and New Model Army haven't made an album together.

Both have made some solid albums.

The Levellers - A Weapon Called the Word
New Model Army - The Ghost of Cain

Both are well worth checking out.
