The change to Fort Liberty will cost the Department of Defense $6,374,230, making it the most expensive name change.

Money well spent?
They should spend that on getting a start on UBI instead.

Hello,

What's really concerning is the Department of Defense finds this kind of money between coach pillows (6,374,230/146,000,000,000 = 0.0000436591)

In terms of the US budget and economy, $6M is a couple bucks to you and me. And removing honours and memorials from people who fought to maintain slavery is an easy and worthwhile act to delegitimize that evil (symbolic, yes, better those assholes don't get the symbols).

No debate regards that as I couldn't agree more. My concern is people are suffering and that money would feed a lot of people.

Sure, but that money was allocated to the Pentagon. It wasn't going to feed people. Like, I agree with your priorities, but that money was going to that or to buy guns.

Yep of course. Just grumbling.

One YouTube channel I really like that does theory deep dives did one in London Calling and I really enjoyed it.

Not sure if the non musicians will enjoy it but worth a spin.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Very interesting piece, cheers for that.

I found the guitar breakdown interesting. I remember reading in Gray's LC book that the guitars had been perplexing forever and he broke it down pretty well in the book. I don't remember if that matches what 12 Tone says though.

I don't have a musical background, but I thought the analysis of each instrument was quite interesting. I'll have to pay more attention the next time I hear LC all the way through.

Has this been posted before? I won't say it's good or anything like that, but it has a certain cleverness to it.

Excellent dreampop band The Veldt posted this CMJ chart from '94 and I'm trying to figure out why Radio Clash would have been not only on the list, but so high that year. Was anything going on that I'm forgetting? CoB and The Singles both came out in '91 I think, so it wouldn't be promotion from that...

Can't help with Radio Clash, but you turned me onto The Veldt years ago and I dig 'em. Also also, pretty decent chart, all things considered.
