I may have shared this story before, but I saw the Cure on their Wild Mood Swings tour and there was a group of goths sitting near us - one dude was even wearing a black cape. They did not appear happy that the band were really embracing their poppier side that night/tour. Robert Smith played the show wearing a hockey jersey. They stood for the entire show and did not move. It was kind of comical.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑07 Oct 2022, 10:35amWhen I was a mopey young person—instead of the whacky, permasmiling sea otter I am now—I would have emphasized the stuff from Disintegration down. But I much prefer the poppier side of the Cure now. I'd like to put Wish at #1 just for "Friday" alone, but as an album it's not as good as the two above it.

So they had never heard Head on the Door or the Japanese Whispers EP. People that ignorant deserve what they get. I've never gotten into Bloodflowers, though I all too often see it ranked high on lists. That's when I hopped off the train. At various points I heard the later records, but interests of the band just didn't connect with me anymore.WestwayKid wrote: ↑07 Oct 2022, 4:20pmI've never gotten into Bloodflowers, though I all too often see it ranked high on lists. Too long, too boring.

"Too long, too boring" is how I describe Disintegration.WestwayKid wrote: ↑07 Oct 2022, 4:20pm

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

You're probably more intense than I am on this point, but I don't really disagree.matedog wrote: ↑07 Oct 2022, 4:57pm"Too long, too boring" is how I describe Disintegration.WestwayKid wrote: ↑07 Oct 2022, 4:20pm

Bloodflowers, though, suffers by its genesis of trying to create a trilogy out of it, Porno, and Disintegration. You have to let these things happen naturally.

So we're right about everything else then. On behalf of Hoy, I accept your apology. We'll discuss compensation at a future date.Kory wrote: ↑07 Oct 2022, 6:08pmAha, but you see, that's where you're wrong.

Well, you can compensate me more, if you wish. He'll just waste his share on Carlie Rae Jepsen crap, so I'm not too concerned.Kory wrote: ↑07 Oct 2022, 6:44pmYou and HOY?Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑07 Oct 2022, 6:13pmSo we're right about everything else then.
