When I was a mopey young person—instead of the whacky, permasmiling sea otter I am now—I would have emphasized the stuff from Disintegration down. But I much prefer the poppier side of the Cure now. I'd like to put Wish at #1 just for "Friday" alone, but as an album it's not as good as the two above it.

The Head on the Door
Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
Wish
Three Imaginary Boys
Disintegration
Pornography
Faith
Seventeen Seconds
The Top
… tho I’ve heard the others at least once, I formed no impression beyond that I didn’t care.
I may have shared this story before, but I saw the Cure on their Wild Mood Swings tour and there was a group of goths sitting near us - one dude was even wearing a black cape. They did not appear happy that the band were really embracing their poppier side that night/tour. Robert Smith played the show wearing a hockey jersey. They stood for the entire show and did not move. It was kind of comical.

So they had never heard Head on the Door or the Japanese Whispers EP. People that ignorant deserve what they get. In any case:

I've never gotten into Bloodflowers, though I all too often see it ranked high on lists. Too long, too boring.

That's when I hopped off the train. At various points I heard the later records, but interests of the band just didn't connect with me anymore.

"Too long, too boring" is how I describe Disintegration.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

You're probably more intense than I am on this point, but I don't really disagree.

You're both wrong.

Bloodflowers, though, suffers by its genesis of trying to create a trilogy out of it, Porno, and Disintegration. You have to let these things happen naturally.

Except for the part where we're right.

So we're right about everything else then. On behalf of Hoy, I accept your apology. We'll discuss compensation at a future date.

Well, you can compensate me more, if you wish. He'll just waste his share on Carlie Rae Jepsen crap, so I'm not too concerned.

Purely because I've been on a Lou Reed solo kick this past while and, all in all, it's been a pretty decent ride (sally ride)!

New York
New Sensations
Magic and Loss
Coney Island Baby
Berlin
Transformer
Street Hassle
The Blue Mask
Lou Reed
Songs for Drella
Legendary Hearts
Ecstasy
Rock and Roll Heart
Set the Twilight Reeling
Mistrial
Lulu
Growing up in Public
(Metal Machine Music; Hudson River Wind Meditation; The Bells; The Raven - couldn't get into any of these so unranked)
