Very nice 101W. I saw him play live three times for Stockport County. It was his first comeback in England after Utd, before he played for Fulham. He spent one game trying to score direct from a corner. Of course he did actually achieve it!

I saw George at Elm Park when Man Utd played Reading very early 70s.

Wasn’t that something to do with a bet with a journalist?
From memory Best did it in a game and journalist said it was a fluke so Best said he would do it again - and did (of course).

That rings a bell, it might have been for County, or possibly when he was playing in the States? Some brief footage and I think this was the goal that I was thinking of.

Brilliant. “Older and fatter” but still got it. That assist for the second goal would have them talking on on MOTD.

He played for us for one month. Our Chairman only allowed him to play in home games, he didn't want our opposition to benefit from higher gate receipts when we played away (it was the days when the home teams kept all the gate receipts). That's the spirit, hey?

Found this. I’ve been treasuring it since about 1979 (maybe earlier) when it was given to me as I didn’t get it signed. Looks a bit dodgy but was on a fag packet at a gig.

Hello,

He made you burn it before the police could impound it.
