The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
That last part of "Alternative Ulster" sounds just like "Making Your Mind Up" by Bucks Fizz.

I generally agree with all this, tho I might sub Wonderful and Frightening World for TNSG.

Yeah it probably does if you speed it up then slow it down.

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Heh. Marky, you're the best, mate.
I also realized the other day that "The Olympian" (Skids) and "To Be Someone" sound pretty similar.

It must be a wonderful thing to have such fine ears.
You're a fine fellow too mate.
Adamson was an admirer of Weller. So I expect it's a deliberate steal. I remember seeing Big Country live when they first stared out and Stuart would always sing the opening line from Boy About Town then launch into Fields of Fire. Of course Big Country supported The Jam on some of their final dates.

Sounds very plausible. The timeline looks about right, too.Marky Dread wrote: ↑26 Mar 2020, 9:36amIt must be a wonderful thing to have such fine ears.

Have to make a point of using this in my intro lecture, either as an ice breaker or to wind it up:
