I don't, but that's because I foolishly installed a literal dangerous penis extension in 1999. Now I can't be around microwave ovens or my groin heats up to over 600 degrees celsius.

Whereas I don't see fucking as being at all related to killing.

Joking aside, if I were forced to take a human life it would haunt me forever, but that wouldn't stop me from protecting myself. I don't think this is hypocrisy, but it might smell like that.
You didn't really answer my question. If the attacker had a gun, would you prefer to have an less effective weapon?
Not the norm, but in certain extreme examples of urban centers in an armed society, like East LA or parts of Detroit the arms race continues. And that way M.A.D.ness lies.
I wouldn't put the blame for that on the weapons themselves. Actually, if we pursued militia style defense over a militarized police force I'd say we'd fare a bit better. Centralization and authoritarianism is hardly ever the solution. I realize I'm in the minority with this opinion.
"If we outlaw guns, only outlaws have guns." You have to admit that it's not much of an inheritance, a flawed system that you've found yourself in.
There's a lot I've inherited from history that I don't like: the state, violence, exploitation, Jane Austen. The whole human condition is tragicomic. Best to find enjoyment where you can before your light is snuffed out.

The short answer's no, but that doesn't make any killing, or any device that can only be used for killing, righteous. I'd murder, but I'm a bit of a bastard like that. I piss on the toilet seat too.

I think due to human nature, a lack of people to answer to leads to misdeeds. If a person can get away with something, they will. A militia would become drunk on it's power a la Homer Simpson when he was chasing the cat burglar.

Well, I'd say you're a hypocrite if you'd like to deprive another.

Eh, I really don't want to get into another discussion of anarchism. I've gone over this stuff before and suffice it to say 1. it's not as simple as all that, and 2. if you're against people having that sort of power, why would you restrict it to fewer people? after all, power corrupts, and the more concentrated the power, the more awful the corruption--absolute power corrupts absolutely. I'd rather "decentralize the badness" as P. J. O'Rourke put it.
The Brontes, though. They were kick arse.
Also terrible. Much of English literature from that period is simply awful.

Deprive another of the joy of killing? It's only in these extreme, unlikely, horror-story scenarios that I'd ever consider murder being partway acceptable.

Fair enough. You've done the reading and all I've got is a series of unsupported gut reactions. I'd rather not get into a debate where the balance of knowledge is stacked against me.

Nothing to do with joy. Just because hurting people might get your rocks off doesn't make it true for all gun owners. ;)

I like animals now. Guns, I'm essentially in the same place as I was nine years ago, but with more ambivalence around violent revolution than I once had.

I don't really have much use for guns as the likelihood of more mass shootings seems to outweigh the likelihood of anything Pantheresque going on or even an armed revolution at the moment.

I still don't really like Austen, but the Brontes I am a little warmer on. I tend to prefer 18th to 19th century literature.

No, in America guns are a mass psychosis. I'm thinking more in the global south.

Jane Eyre - the character - is cool as hell.
