I know its a crime, but i've haven't seen any of the original trilogy films. I've heard that TGWTDT with Rooney Mara is more like the OT than TGITSW.revbob wrote: ↑18 Nov 2018, 6:09pmHow does Girl in the Spider's Web compare to the original Swedish trilogy? Those were great films. I wasnt able to bring myself to watch the US version. I find Daniel Craig to be pretty bland.daredevil wrote: ↑18 Nov 2018, 2:34pmBad Times at the El Royale (2018) Remember those Tarantino influenced films that were released in the late 90's, Two Days in the Valley, City of Industry? BTATER fits that genre. A really well done film where each character (Jeff Bridges, Dakota Johnson, John Hamm) has a specific reason for checking into this particular motel. The storytelling is non-lineal in some sequences and the payoff towards the end is excellent.
The Girl in the Spiders Webb (2018) I loved the TGWTDT with Rooney Mara. This one has a new Lisbeth(Claire Foy) who is very good, but the film is more like a spy thriller/action film. There are car chases, fight scenes and near death situations for the heroine. Still worth seeing IMHO.

Sorry I'm late here but count me in on the Queen love. I thought the film was brilliant. The critics have bashed it but it's breaking all kinds of records for a music biopic, the people have spoken. I couldn't sit and listen to their albums but their best stuff is fantastic.

Re: movies
I thought the films were disappointing (haven’t seen New one). The emphasis of the story from the book is different to the emohasis of the story in the film. The film was all about the missing person investigation but that was only a sub plot of the book that was about the relationships between the characters.revbob wrote: ↑18 Nov 2018, 6:09pmHow does Girl in the Spider's Web compare to the original Swedish trilogy? I will probably go watch it, as Heston said make up your own mind. I do like a music biopic and Mercury is amazing to watch on the stage. I am not a Queen fan and don’t own a single Queen CD / record but do like some of their big hits, Under Pressure for one.

The recreation of Live Aid is just brilliant in every way. I felt really emotional watching it for a reason I can't put my finger on.101Walterton wrote: ↑21 Nov 2018, 2:18pmI will probably go watch it, as Heston said make up your own mind. Same. The last 15-20 minutes had me teary-eyed. It was so beautifully done, like goosebumps all over beautiful. A lot of people had this reaction.Heston wrote: ↑21 Nov 2018, 6:47pmThe recreation of Live Aid is just brilliant in every way.
