Mad Magazine's summary of 2001: The future sure is boring.

As beautiful as that movie looks, it's really fucking dull.

There's a good 90 minute movie somewhere in that 150 minute runtime.

Love every minute of that movie.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I've been struggling with this a bit. More and more I'm preferring to stay in with a book, even telling friends that I'm too busy to hang out. I suppose I need to force myself to hang out more if I want to maintain things.

I just remind myself of how bored I often am after, like, an hour when going out and that curbs any guilt I might have. It also helps that I've reached an age when there's no social expectation to go out or that you can be easily guilted. Plus, by spacing shit out, making it "special," I do tend to enjoy evenings out more.
