Nope. Except for apples or melons. Those are fine chilled. Everything else—bananas, cherries, grapes, oranges—are in bowls in the kitchen.revbob wrote: ↑17 Aug 2018, 7:41pmYou don't put fruit in the fridge??Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑17 Aug 2018, 6:08pmHumidity and refrigerated fruit sucks.101Walterton wrote: ↑17 Aug 2018, 6:01pmDont they have fridges, we keep all our fruit and veg (except bananas and potatoes) in the fridge.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑17 Aug 2018, 1:06pmSuper true. I won’t eat fruit unless it comes out of the fridge, I like it to be cold. I don’t like room temperature oranges or apples etc..Dr. I've had to put cherries in the fridge a few times this summer because the damned fruit flies have been bad this year. I chill apples, berries, and fruit that gets overripe fast like peaches or (okay, only technically a fruit) avocado. I leave citrus and bananas on the counter with tomatoes, onions, and potatoes.

Actually agree about cherries not from the fridge but suspect that is because I associate cherries with Christmas and winter.

The only cherries I can associate with winter are maraschino, and that's in my mother's shortbread Christmas cookies. I'd say we have maybe another week or two of decent cherries left here until next summer.Actually agree about cherries not from the fridge but suspect that is because I associate cherries with Christmas and winter.

I hate those maraschino cherries. They're a neutral fruit for me. They ain't the star of the snack or dessert, but they don't ruin things. I like them for two things: certain cocktails (usually manhattans) and fruitcake, which I know isn’t a popular food, but I always liked.

We have a cherry tree out front. This year I made a low sugar jam with whiskey. It’s delightful on sharp cheddar.
