I still think Barry Manilow had the best rhyming couplet ever when he rhymed "Bermuda triangle" with "Look at it from my angle."

Heston's mother never bought him a synthesizer because she wasn't friendly with Phil Oakley.

Hope you feel better, MD. Get out, gout.Marky Dread wrote: ↑19 Oct 2017, 10:52amUnable to walk very well due to having extreme gout. I have had steroid injections in my ankles and I've been off work this past 4 months. Medication failed and I'm slowly being weaned onto some meds I had previously 20 years ago. All sent to try and all that.JennyB wrote: ↑19 Oct 2017, 9:26amWhat's wrong?Marky Dread wrote: ↑19 Oct 2017, 9:05amCool wish I was well enough to attend.Low Down Low wrote: ↑18 Oct 2017, 7:10pmhttps://ahss.tcd.ie/news-events/theclash.php
Am thinking of popping along to this if I'm in the clear saturday morning, could have worse days than listening to the old crew telling their old war stories I reckon.

Sorry to hear that mate. I get a little touch in my big toe every now and again and its the most excruciating pain. Keep off the Port and Cheese. At least the time off work allows you to work on the remasters Every cloud etc etcMarky Dread wrote: ↑19 Oct 2017, 10:52amUnable to walk very well due to having extreme gout. Sure thing. Oh and I would love some port and cheese. I've been virtually teetotal for the past 14 years.white man wrote: ↑20 Oct 2017, 8:01amSorry to hear that mate. Was listening to S! this morning and was reminded of this as well:
But on the drummers face, there is a look of dread
As he drums away 400 years of dread
I thought to myself, "Joe is such a wordsmith, but this is a crime Bruce would never commit." Until I remembered,
Don't turn me home again
I just can't face myself alone again
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Re: The Clash observations thread.
I think the Bruce example is acceptable. It doesn't seem to be so much about rhyming as about expressing an emotion or telling a story. Repetition is very effective if it's done well, I think.matedog wrote: ↑20 Oct 2017, 10:09amWas listening to S! this morning and was reminded of this as well:
