Can't believe BBC4 were offered this but turned it down. Seemed a perfect fit for them. Could have shown it alongside a load of songs from the vaults.

This aired on Saturday. Haven't seen it yet, but some friends of mine were interviewed in it as well, which is super cool (Andy was a fan of their version of That Wave).

It was superb, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Being an XTC anorak, I knew quite a lot of the stories but Andy is always hilarious. Loved the bit about the "Ernieing."

That was well funny. Dave Gregory seemed totally bemused by it.

Overall not a bad doc. Didn't really do them justice length wise as there is so much more to tell. But it was well put together, I had seen virtually all the footage before and some of it is from the remasters/reissues.

Thanks for that Heston, not being a Sky TV user I was a bit cheesed off BBC4 turned down the doc and was hoping it would crop up on some interweb place. What I saw was very enjoyable... I missed the last 25mins cos I tore myself away to watch Ken Burns' excellent Vietnam series on (live) TV... and now it looks like the blue meanies have removed it from veoh.
But I've got someone to record it and will get to see it properly.
Andy Partridge is always great to see/hear being interviewed - I loved the bits where he demonstrates songwriting by playing a weird guitar chord and seeing what images it conjures up. But I never realised his home life was so disrupted he was on valium from the age of 12 and it was a shock to see him struggling to describe withdrawal.

I'm sure the XTC fans will have seen this but it's the TV show from 1982 where AP walks off stage never to return. Still unsettling to watch.

OK, I've managed to see the whole thing now and enjoyed it - but definitely scope for a longer version, it seemed to gloss over the final years too quickly.
It would certainly suit a release on DVD with extra material. Fingers crossed.
One thing I noticed, when Steven Wilson is doing his chat in the (his?) studio, on the wall on the left there are some guitars hanging up including one which looks very much like a Joe Strummer replica Tele....

Andy's Geordie accent was pretty great.

Yeah for Sting brilliant. I still love his John Peel impersination. Dr. Medulla is still searching for that illusive 12'' by Inevitable Groin.

Thoroughly enjoyed this doc. Hearing Easter Theatre again made my spine tingle.

The 'ernying' and the Dylan impression really made me chuckle.

I wonder if Barry Andrews was asked to take part?

Very cool. I listened to Fassine's cover after the programme and thought it was rather fab.
