The song was used in the documentary film The Intertia Variations, which explores frontman Matt Johnson’s sometimes troubled relationship with fame
Yes, because I'm sure Matt gets mobbed when he goes to his local supermarket. One of the most under-the-radar pop stars ever.
So what does Marconi playing the mamba mean? "Marconi" is referring to the radio itself. It plays a deadly snake. The snake - the mamba - is slithering from the speakers. Ready to kill greedy corporations. Ready to free the world of all that is evil, and to leave behind only the youthful idealism encompassed by the tenets of rock and roll.

A pretty good photo from my vantage point:

Set list. Actually, the songs on the bottom sheet were played first.

Sadly, I was on the side of the stage opposite of where Billy Zoom played.

He sat on a stool the whole time while playing guitar, and only stood up twice to play saxophone.

He did not say a word to the audience during the entire concert. He was his usual, goofy, expressive self -- but he didn't banter at all with the audience.

Hopefully Paul Weller at the Sydney Opera House for a nice long weekend in January.
