C'mon, if the NRA wasn't going to stand up for a couple dozen dead white school children, you expect them to defend a dead black man?

But the dead black man was a licensed gun owner who stated that he was carrying in the video.
Ugh, I couldn't bring myself to watch the video of the kid in the backseat. The dashcam was bad enough.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

The NRA is about helping sell guns and for some fifty years the marketing strategy is that people need guns to protect themselves from criminals*, and criminals are black and Hispanic. Defending the rights of a black man to carry a gun undercuts the entire argument of the industry.
* And the government, depending on which party is in power.

I can see the argument for suspension with pay over actions done while on duty—I don't necessarily agree with them, but there is room for them—but if you beat a fucking kid with a steel pipe while off-duty, there's no goddamned way you deserve a paid vacation.

Yeah, but how brown was he? Like...beyond a certain Pantone range?
Boy, that guy's gonna learn a thing or two from his paid suspension. He might even have a note placed in his file.

I'm sure when he returns to the force after a paid holiday he'll have permanently changed his ways for the better.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
I read that the other day and it is, indeed, horrifying. If you're a white little monster, there'll always be second and third chances as long as the victim doesn't count.

I'm no legal expert, but when someone says "I'm gonna kill him" and then proceeds to shoot him six times, how is that not premeditated murder?
Also, U2 is here tomorrow night and Bono is going to be EXTRA insufferable. So fuck you, STLPD.
As wretched as the police are, they still rely on gosh darn regular folks to give them a pass even in those instances when something goes to trial.
