You and Gene have finally found common working ground!
We came up with a decent logo, once. And I helped him get "husband eclipse" into Urban Dictionary. We have a rich collaborative history, obviously.

Ha! I remember that one. What a wonderfully lyrical phrase.

The bonus was that I got to use it during the regular eclipse.

Were you the sun or the blocking object in that scenario?

Lesser sounds bad, but ruling the night sounds good. Not the worst of scenarios.

Lesser just means I have smaller hands. It's better for helping with necklace clasps and junk.

Snow White has caused inestimable harm by making them seem decent and merry.

Watched this doc over breakfast this morning. Great music, of course, and it covers the key artists that developed the genre, but I can't say there's a real point to the piece other than to say that this was a thing that existed and who was part of it. It's archival rather than historical. So, meh. Plus, why was Billy Corgan there to opine on every band? Having him praise a given band made me like them a little less.

Wasn't "beautiful noise" the American name for gaze? Bands like For Against, etc? I thought the name of this doc was weird, considering that. I've never seen it, but since Corgan's in it, I think I'll pass.

I've never heard the term used as a genre, but could be. That I recall, the only non-UK band featured (and very briefly) was Medicine, from L.A.

I got that from this short Allmusic write-up of Alison's Halo: http://www.allmusic.com/album/eyedazzle ... 0000566691

Interesting. Shoegaze describes the musicians, but beautiful noise describes the music or effect on listeners.
