Hoy was a Skrewdriver fan for two years.
"Man, loved that gritty sound when they reformed in '84" - Hoy
he writes a paragraph about snare drum techniques
It's like sucking down a Crystal Pepsi while reading a Goosebumps book!
"I never doubted myself for a minute for I knew that my monkey-strong bowels were girded with strength, like the loins of a dragon ribboned with fat and the opulence of buffalo dung." - Richard Nixon, Checkers Speech, abandoned early draft

So then why all the criticism of Strummer?
Most of the criticism I've read accuses his lyrics of being obscure, unfocussed and lacking the coherence of his Clash work — and that they're not "about" anything.

While there are more than a few clunkers (like that Robocop line in Gangsterville), I think they're still pretty effective and evocative, though in a different way than his 76-85 work. And he still has more straightforward corkers like Burning Lights or X-Ray Style.

Good dynamics too.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

that drum fill is savage

Yes, I will always cherish your expert analysis of "It's Still Rock and Roll To Me" by Billy Joel.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board
