What makes this song worse than some of these others is its relative prevalence in our current culture as evidenced by its more frequent radio play.JennyB wrote: ↑22 May 2017, 1:14pmI'll give you an all of the above and raise you a Sussudio.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑19 May 2017, 8:28pmWe Built This Heston is always a candidate.revbob wrote: ↑19 May 2017, 8:22pmPaul McCartneys Wonderful ChristmasTime is another.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑19 May 2017, 8:09pmIt is a legitimate contender for worst song of the 80s (well-known songs, anyway). Phil Collins is worse because I'm more likely to be exposed to it.

No, I meant I don't get the love for Phil Collins. :) People actually like him. Young people, too.revbob wrote: ↑23 May 2017, 7:16pmPhil Collins is worse because I'm more likely to be exposed to it.JennyB wrote: ↑23 May 2017, 9:09amI don't get it.

Watched a great doco last night on Sgt Pepper. I knew it was ground breaking at the time for numerous reasons, in particular the fact that they knew they were making music they would not have to reproduce live hence the experiments with multi tracks. But I did not know how much experimentation with music history went into it.
Re: I have An Addiction
I finally got to see the MC5 True Testimonial film
It took bleedin' hours to download the thing.
But worth every damn second. What a story - this band took more shit than ANY other I think. And the live footage is phenomenal.

Actually I think, as ever, Mr Otway was the only idiot - he can't have made much money on this!SandraM wrote: ↑13 Feb 2018, 6:22pmBravo to you and the rest of the idiots! 'Otway - The Movie'

It cost £25 I think for what was basically a weekend-long Otway-fest in London: a couple of gigs by him, a pub crawl with him and some of his team, and a screening/premier at the Leicester Square Odeon complete with red carpet, TV coverage etc. Plus credit as a producer of course.
10/10 for entertainment value.
The film featured the story of many of his stunts and schemes over the years including the sadly unfulfilled plan to charter a jumbo jet and fly around the world with fans, playing gigs in various countries. It was called 'Ot-Air' but didn't quite reach the funding, cos aviation fuel prices soared or something, and it got canned.
Part of this trip was to feature him playing an in-flight guitar solo as the plane crossed the international date line, resulting in a claim for the longest guitar solo in the world lasting a whole day.
Lord knows what he's planning for his 70th....

Sounds like it was huge fun, John. An old colleague of mine got chatting with him after a gig and swapped email addresses - Mr Otway is obviously not a ‘precious’ artiste and likes the company of his fans.JohnS wrote: ↑13 Feb 2018, 9:17pm

I’ve just bought the film. I’ll let you know how much I enjoy it soon
Re: I have An Addiction
I just looked up John Otway on Wikipedia and he seems really interesting. I'll definitely be checking this out.

My main placing of him is in The Young Ones with a punky guitar version of Body Talk.
