Is Angies still there? That was a great place to be in a Sunday. All the Irish musicians that were playing in London would turn up and they would just jam all afternoon for fun.
I only pass through the area once in a blue moon these days, and did so last week which is when I saw the boarded up Chippenham and Costa Coffee-fied PoW, for example.
I couldn't see at the time but I'm pretty sure Angies is still going. There's recent write-ups on it online anyway, if you google it.
I've never been inside and it seems it doesn't do cask ale which is a bit of a turn-off for me, although Guinness is a decent alternative. But your description - which may be a bit out of date these days - and other reviews suggest I should check it out. These back-street gems are getting harder to find.
I haven't been in there in 20 years ( can't believe it is that long) but very Irish as opposed to faux Irish so you only go in there to drink Guinness.
Named after owners wife he had another Angies in Willesden and Harlesden.

I wonder if Mick was listening to a bit of Tex Ritter when he wrote this one?

It's 100% a pastiche of Battle of New Orleans.

Oh totally, I just thought the verse bits sounded very similar in this one.

I seem to remember them forgetting to include this bit on one of the 2011 dates.
