Probably at exactly the same time I heard it for the first time in 30 years. Spooky!

Re: Heston's Best'uns - SLF
Back To Front to me sounds like a generic SLF song. It is so similar to 2/3 other songs as if it was a fake like those Pistols songs that surfaced on various boots.

I really like Back To Front. Mr Fire Coal Man on the b side was brilliant too.101Walterton wrote: ↑26 Mar 2017, 12:53amBack To Front to me sounds like a generic SLF song. It is so similar to 2/3 other songs as if it was a fake like those Pistols songs that surfaced on various boots.

Me too, both tracks. I think with 'Nobody's Heroes' they started turning into what they ultimately became on 'Go For It' - a perfect power pop band, full of ideas and super catchy melodies.Heston wrote: ↑26 Mar 2017, 6:45amI really like Back To Front. What would people's choices be for great SLF songs from their second run? I love Johnny 7, No Surrender, Each Dollar a Bullet and My Ever Changing Moral Stance.

Cheers Marky, I was thinking of knocking up a comp of their best later songs. I kind of lost interest after Flags and Emblems but I'm thinking there must be some more diamonds among the rough. I rather enjoyed When We Were Young at the gig the other night.Marky Dread wrote: ↑27 Mar 2017, 12:40pmI like those you've mentioned and these : Beirut Moon, Last Train from the Wasteland, Strummerville, Still Burning, When We Were Young.

Yeah you can make a pretty decent comp out of those latter tracks.

Thanks for the tips Boys I don't really know any of the songs post the original break up.
Is there a comp of the second incarnation?

I don't think so. Maybe together, on this board, we could make one. Let's see if any more suggestions come in and we'll see what we can knock up.101Walterton wrote: ↑27 Mar 2017, 2:16pmThanks for the tips Boys I don't really know any of the songs post the original break up.

I like all on that list but "The Message" I'm not too enamoured by their cover of that. It feels a little too forced and obvious.Flex wrote: ↑27 Mar 2017, 2:43pmLotta good material from '91 on.

It's a bit cringeworthy, as is their cover of No sleep Til Brooklyn (Belfast).Marky Dread wrote: ↑27 Mar 2017, 3:54pmI like all on that list but "The Message" I'm not too enamoured by their cover of that.
