Was in a hotel bar last night with Icehouse, Allan Parsons Project and Bonnie Tyler!! Sounds like a bad joke but true.
How'd you know who they were?

I've only heard of APP.

When you are in a fancy hotel bar and a bunch of 'stars' come in straight from the stage they make sure you know them!!!
I saw Icehouse in 83 supporting Bowie. APP I heard of but couldn't name one song but everyone knows Bonnie Tyler don't they???

Back in the 80s, there was some sports highlights show that used APP's "Sirius" as its theme song. Picture downhill skiers wiping out and majestic interceptions in dramatic slo-mo.

I didn't think I did but sadly after looking her up I am aware. I much prefer ignorance in this case. My cousin and his wife had declared that one of her songs was "their" song and I was forced to sit through a wedding video that had that song in the background.

Time to go get drunk and hopefully forget remembering this.

And great job Tep with that Simpsons piece, made my day.

It gets used a lot during NBA games, when introducing the players.

Yeah the royalties from that must be immense. Talk about dumb luck.

When I was 13 or so, I learned to like APP's "Eye in the Sky" because a girl I was ineptly pursuing loved it. She, of course, just wanted to be friends and I was stuck with this weird acceptance of mediocre soft rock. There's a moral in all this somewhere.

Girls don't want to date SRPs, but they will marry them?
