Cool Dad

Post by 101Walterton »

So 50.5W was heading off on a road trip with two friends. The driver had borrowed his mum's car for the trip and prior to departure they realise that the car does not have Bluetooth or a USB connection. As radio coverage will only cover the first 1/2 hour of the 6 hour leg this was going to be a problem as between the 3 of them (the 2 boys are both musicians and play in bands) they did not own a single CD.
Knowing that I did the boys asked 50.5W to see if I had any of the following CD's they could borrow?
The Clash
The Stone Roses
Blur
UB40
Arctic Monkeys
Amy Winehouse
The Jam
The Libertines

Fill yer boots boys :)

Is that a saying you just made up?

Good job BTW. I work with some younger people who are shocked that I still buy CDs.

A few years back I was shocked how one of my daughter's friends listened to music. They would just listen to the hook in a pop song.

Whenever my kid buys me CDS for Christmas, bday, father's day, she will get complimented by the people in the store for her great taste in music.

No, I think it originates in Shakespearean times?

I know this isn't a competition, but next to you, I am a failure.

My son's favourite band is Tame Impala.

Or as I call them, Lame Imapala.

Which gets me ...

Haven't heard of them. My son likes some Bad Religion but will also listen to Journey.

He also sometimes complains that the music in the car is too loud.

Take your pick as to which adjective damns them to hell.

They're alright. Wouldn't call them a jam band. And what's wrong with psychedelia?

Don't feel down Spiff it wasn't 50.5W that wanted the CDs it was her friends.
Normally at home all I get is 'dad turn the music down'. Amazing what peer pressure can do as she would never listen to my music by choice although sometimes it is funny when we are out in the car and an old ska or punk song will come on and she will sing away and when I ask if she knows the song she has no idea what it is or how she knows all the words!!!

Loads of old stuff is used in films and tv shows these days, I've heard people like the Clash and Buzzcocks in the most unlikely places.

Would definitely call them a jam band because one cannot dance to any of their songs without looking like it's hard work. Not my cuppa.

ETA: Nothing wrong with psychedelia, per se. I enjoy it a lot when I'm stoned. But I don't get stoned any more, so I find it boring.

My kid's first concert was Blondie, so at least I am doing something right.

Good work! If you don't count The Wiggles my kids' first show was Lorde.
