Current members
Lynval Golding – rhythm guitar, vocals (1977–81, 1993, 1996–2001, 2008–present)
Horace Panter – bass guitar (1977–81, 1982, 1993, 1996–2001, 2008–present)
Terry Hall – vocals and songwriting (1977–81, 2008–present)
Tim Smart – trombone (2008–present)
Drew Stansall – saxophone, flute (2008–present)
Nikolaj Torp Larsen – keyboards (2008–present)
Steve Cradock - lead guitar (2014–present)
Pablo Mandleson - trumpet (2014–present)
Gary Powell – drums (2016–present)
Due to John Bradbury sadly passing away and Roddy Byers leaving there are now only three original members. That means there were more original members on the "Guilty 'Til Proven Innocent" album. There were more original members in The Special Beat than what's in the current line-up.
Rhoda Dakar sings some of the vocals on "In the Studio" but she also sang on "More Specials". Personally I think people have a problem with the musical change more than those that played on the album.
FB3 would have had equal numbers if they actually existed!!
There was talk of new material around the time of the 30th anniversary tour but obviously came to nothing???

I read that they were working up some new songs but as far as I know there was nothing new in the live set.Marky Dread wrote:Just a live album and DVD.101Walterton wrote:Yes I'm sure it gives them a nice income and whilst people want to come and watch why not.Marky Dread wrote:Not that I blame them but I expect it's more of a cash cow.101Walterton wrote:I don't disagree although obviously the current line up doesn't record and is more of a tribute band for want of a better term.Marky Dread wrote:

Thanks for this Marky - having 4 Specials albums (the first two and two comps) and seen them in concert twice, you might have figured I would have heard 'The Skinhead Symphony' before you dropped this the other day - but, I guess not! Anyways, the whole thing has been a major treat - in addition, to TSS, Sea Cruise and the Peel Session version of Gangsters are also new favourites. One other comment - The Boiler -

Hello,
I also have Neville Staples - Special Skank (may also go by the name Skanktastic). It's an ep-length disc of covers. Was this a legit release?

My version of Special Skank has:
Hypocrite
Simmer Down
Johnny Too Bad
Pressure Drop
Maga Dog
Rude Boy Gone To Jail
That's it for my copy.

This isn't as insulting as it'll sound, but I've always thought that album's just a bar below UB40.Marky Dread wrote:

Re: Flex's Special Friday.
That would depend upon which UB40 album you are battling it against. It's a bar neither you or I could limbo under that's for sure.Silent Majority wrote:This isn't as insulting as it'll sound, but I've always thought that album's just a bar below UB40.Marky Dread wrote:
