I just thought about doing a Swans-esque birthday song for a hot minute, then realized how horrible that would turn out for everyone involved.

Which could be the point. I actually watched a bit of a video compilation of early performances the other day, A Long Slow Screw, and it really is complete despair. Musical performance totally devoid of any pleasure.
