Lydon then went on to criticise Band Aid, saying that the charity initiative was "full of corruption" and that the money was eaten up by administration costs. "I never found Band-Aids work, they think they're waterproof, get full of water and then fall off – and it's the same with Geldof's lot," Lydon said. "I don't like them because they're open to corruption. There's this thing called administration and that's where all the money is eaten up. Do you remember the one with Phil Collins and they were jetting around, doing New York, London? How much fucking money? How many cans of Campbell's do you think that one cost? And who really needs Phil Collins in two continents in two hours? Even his missus would have a no on that.”

I blame PiL FoR for the drum sound on the original Band-Aid single. Which is the only part of the record I like.

Is doing something and getting it wrong better than doing nothing at all?

...I think it is.

Phil has reissued his albums with updated covers. Brave move by the old buffoon.

I'm not going to refresh my memory by reading the thread. Did he actually swear to his retirement?

If so, I have the perverse fantasy that we'll get a posthumous release that shows his retirement years as spent making arcane musique concrète and glitchy IDM.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I think he recovered or something. I don't feel like rereading either.

If I recall correctly, he had an issue with his hands and couldn't drum. Honestly, I would have preferred his hands were fine and he lost his voice. His drumming never did me any real harm.

What is Peter Gabriel up to these days? I assume it's something weird.

I imagine Gabriel's stage show involves more costumes and less alcoholic incontinence.

He figured that everyone hates this year anyway, no one will notice the extra awful he's contributing.
