Shameless Self Promotion Department

My wife and I just launched our podcast. If you want to hear a married couple breathlessly talk about 80s movies, feel free to check out A Match Made In Space.

Make a point of updating what movie you're discussing. If you do something good, like The Last American Virgin or Brewster's Millions, I might be persuaded to listen.

edit: Scratch Brewster's Millions. Make it The Toy.

I don't think I ever watched Over the Top in it's entirety. I like that whole Cannon/Golan-Globas arsenal.
We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

One requirement we have in our mission statement is that the show order is:

1. A movie I never watched before
2. A movie Ali never watched before
3. A movie I never watched before
4. A movie Ali never watched before
5. Either a movie we've both seen (preferably not well known) or a well-known and/or cult movie we've never actually seen before

So I expect it would be a while before the Toy shows up unless she hasn't seen it (and I think she has)

I think The Last American Virgin is on our list at some point.

That's the stupid Stallone arm wrestling movie right?

Wolt are you going to post a list of the movies you're watching?

You know who else had a mission statement? Hitler. It's called Mein Kampf, you sonofabitch.

I can give the schedule for the first five:

1. Over the Top (released, and yes it is the stupid Stallone arm-wrestling movie)
2. Commando (recorded)
3. Girls Just Want To Have Fun (recorded)
4. Repo Man (just watched, probably recording tonight)
5. Anna To the Infinite Power

We have a "brainstorm list" of movies somewhere, and we're supposed to come up with the next five in the next week.

Episodes are tentatively every other week because we probably can't record every week, but if we get far enough ahead, maybe we'll move it to weekly. But likely not, because Ali is going to be in rehearsal/performance for much of March-May, except for when we're both out of town.

Ha. Just thinking about it makes me laugh. Good director, actually, believe it or not.

I actually think it's a fairly well made action movie. But yes, good director.

Going to have to give this one a listen as it's one of my favorite movies all time. I love all the gaffs (exploding solider's launch pad is clearly visible is a particularly egregious example).
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
