Let's see. . .

-- the seriously underwhelming neoliberal centrist puddle-of-piss Gubenatorial candidate who will govern two ticks further right of where she campaigned, over the guy who ran as a neoliberal centrist puddle of piss who'll govern five ticks further right of where he campaigned. Even though five-ticks-to-the-right dude is going to win and make a royal mess of things like the last 3 five-ticks-to-the-right dudes this state's stupid voters elected in the name of imaginary "checks and balances". Please go away, Coakley, into the hole you crawled out of before you choke away yet another crucial and eminently winnable election. This is Strike Two. :hmph:
-- No on lowering the gas tax, because I don't like my suspension getting wrecked once every 2 years by earth-swallowing potholes. And this state has only now started pulling itself out of that deferred road maintenance hole Mittens lovingly stuck us with when he left office 8 years ago.
-- Yes on repealing the casino bill, because this state's gaming commission is clownshoes and couldn't approve a fire drill without burning half the block down.
-- Yes on paid sick leave, even though I know it's non-binding and the stupid Legislature will never ever bring it up for a real vote.
-- Yes on expanding the 5¢ bottle deposit to non-carbonated beverages, because there's too many goddamn Aquafina bottles strewn all over the streets and I want to properly incentivize the homeless guys with shopping carts full of soda cans to keep my city litter-free.
-- Who Fuckin' Cares on every other state-level candidate on the ballot because they're either running unopposed or up 80-20 over the Some Guy punching bag recruited to run against them.
-- Every Socialist Candidate on the City of Cambridge ballot, because it'll liven up Public Access TV if the City Council meetings are just a bunch of people sloganeering loudly about the bourgeoisie vs. proletariat during a boring zoning debate nobody cares about.

:meh: Civic duty is such a buzzkill.

Hey, in the case of Dillon, voting made things much, much worse. :shifty:

I have two friends on the ballot, so voted with some sense of enthusiasm just on a "pals being pals" level. I plan to hold this over their heads forever.

Not worse enough.

This--and the primary--were the first elections in my voting lifetime where I actually had second-thoughts about doing it at all. The primary I hauled my ass down to the booth just to vote against Coakley in vain...this time to vote against Coakley's opponent in (probably) vain and because it was a more consequential batch of ballot questions than the norm. I usually don't even have a problem with "my vote doesn't matter"; this is Taxachusetts, I'm used to that. Staring at Kang and Kodos at the top of the ticket and an entire legal-size page of incumbents running totally unopposed or crushing their cannon-fodder opposition at margins that a child-molestation life imprisonment wouldn't squelch made it feel for the first time like I was...somehow...contributing to the problem. And I usually don't leave the booth with that kind of self-loathing. Not even past elections where the ballot was a similarly top-to-bottom wasteland of suck.

The last think I voted for that I cared about was no rubbers in porn and that lost, so fuck it.

I think it was in 2008 that George Will said that Americans spend more on potato chips or chocolate bars than elections, which he cited to signify … something (more should be spent on elections? less on chips? More fawning tributes to Tony LaRussa?).

Exit polls say "The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves" is beating "Hope" by a 62-38 margin. I think it's a wave.

Yea, and they wanted to jolt us into saving more for retirement. Very clever, these bankers.

Well, I'm glad I don't live in Louisiana. The Senate race got called for a December 6 runoff election because of that state's bizarre election rules, and like 30 minutes later some SuperPAC is already running negative TV ads for that race. X(

The guy to the left got about 20 write in votes for state auditor. I had to vote against John Ashcroft's son for state senate. We also had some really stupid amendments. Thankfully, they aren't going to pass.

Hey guys! It looks like the super crazy assholes have won control of the Senate! I can't wait for two years of less than nothing getting done, considering nothing has been accomplished in the last 4 years. Really excellent.
