This brings up a good point: how come there's not, like, a Vivid Ghostbusters porn parody?

Slate's just openly daring you to write an angry letter to the editor.

Nah. Slate is written exclusively by wrong-headed contrarians.

Waitaminnit, they offered me a columnist position because they said I show a lot of promise!

They just crossed out Mickey Kaus' name on the file copy of his acceptance letter from 1996.

From a book I'm reading on American International Pictures:
Born in the Bronx, [Dick] Miller initially wanted to be a musician. He tried his hand at the drums and later the guitar. One night a fight broke out and Miller busted his guitar on somebody's head. When a friend suggested that he take up the trumpet Miller said he didn't dare. With a trumpet he could kill someone. So in 1952, hoping to find work as a writer, he came to California. "I sold a couple of articles but you can't make a living on that. Jonathan took me to see Roger who was making a western at the time and introduced me as an actor. I thought, Why not. I liked playing cowboys and Indians when I was a kid. Why not get paid for it?"
