Re: Boston Marathon Explosions
A quote from Kurt Vonnegut came to mind as I was considering the beyond the pale reasoning that must go into these types of mass murder/attempts. It's so simple and true as to be childlike in it's wisdom:
"It's wicked to hate that many people all at once".
"It's wicked to hate that many people all at once".

Dropkick Murphys Announce Benefit Concert In Boston This Sunday, April 28
Band Has Already Raised Over $150k Through ‘For Boston’ T-Shirt Sales
Boston-based band Dropkick Murphys are happy to announce a benefit concert in Boston this Sunday at House of Blues. This will be a special daytime matinee show, so that entire families can take part in the event. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and the first band will start at 1 p.m. The bill on Sunday will also include State Radio, Big D and The Kids, The Parkington Sisters, Old Brigade and Barroom Heroes. Tickets to Sunday’s show are on sal today, and can be purchased here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/01004A97B311D0F3
The band have already raised over $150,000 through sales of a special “For Boston” t-shirt with all proceeds benefitting the victims and families affected by the Boston marathon bombings and subsequent events. All proceeds from the show will also go toward helping victims of the bombings, their families and communities. The funds will be disbursed directly to those affected by the tragedy through its charity, The Claddagh Fund, which is a nationally-recognized official 501(c)3 charity whose mission is “to serve the most vulnerable in our communities.”
Pipe Bomb On Lansdown
It's Friday night and the street's filled with freaks
Come and watch as the useless flock to the beat
Of the techno noise that enhances their high
A bombs gonna blow and I think you know why
Everybody's running out, bodies hit the ground
You'd better take cover
It's a pipebomb on Lansdowne
Everybody's running out, bodies hit the ground
You'd better take cover
It's a pipebomb on Lansdowne Street
There's no room for dancing on your precious floors
'Cause you've got to save space for the jocks and whores
You say that our shows are for violent thugs
But we're not the ones on designer drugs
Everybody's running out, bodies hit the ground
You'd better take cover
It's a pipebomb on Lansdowne
Everybody's running out, bodies hit the ground
You'd better take cover
It's a pipebomb on Lansdowne Street
It's not a bunch of little kids we're out to harm and maim
So make sure the night you hurl the pipe there's no baseball game
Look for flyers, check the phoenix, are there any decent shows
If Keith Bennett isn't working then the bomb is good to go
Everybody's running out, bodies hit the ground
You'd better take cover
It's a pipebomb on Lansdowne
Everybody's running out, bodies hit the ground
You'd better take cover
It's a pipebomb on Lansdowne

It would probably be in poor taste if they played it at last night's benefit, but otherwise I don't see the problem.deedar wrote:Read more: DROPKICK MURPHYS - PIPEBOMB ON LANSDOWNE LYRICS
I do, however, have some objections about DRONEMANIA.

Re: Boston Marathon Explosions
Worth noting that was an extraordinarily gutless decision on the part of the Strokes, and it informed my opinion of them as a bunch of limp dick cowards (which is a bummer, because I think Is This It? is still a great album).deedar wrote:Well it has been on recent setlists maybe they`ll drop it, kinda reminds me of the strokes 1st album where all post 9/11 copies were pressed without "New York City Cops" and another song in its place

Re: Boston Marathon Explosions
I don't know, I understand why they did it. It seems kinda petty for a bunch of rich kids whining about cops being "not too smart", especially after 9/11. Catchy song though.Flex wrote:Worth noting that was an extraordinarily gutless decision on the part of the Strokes, and it informed my opinion of them as a bunch of limp dick cowards (which is a bummer, because I think Is This It? is still a great album).deedar wrote:Well it has been on recent setlists maybe they`ll drop it, kinda reminds me of the strokes 1st album where all post 9/11 copies were pressed without "New York City Cops" and another song in its place
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
