Got some more of my old vinyl back.
Generation X / Kiss Me Deadly
On the back Billy,Tony & Terry Chimes (Christ, who did he not play with?) are listed as band members. There is also a fourth bloke on the front cover that I can not identify?
And then it says that Steve Jones Also appears on the album courtesy of Virgin Records.
I had no idea Steve Jones played with them? Was that just a studio thing or something?

Re: Generation X / Steve Jones?
Steve played in the studio on a couple of the "Kiss Me Deadly" album tracks most notably on the original version of "Dancing With Myself" which was a minor hit for Gen X and of course a much bigger hit when Billy Idol went solo, also of note John McGeoch (Magazine, Banshees, Armoury Show, P.I.L.) and James Stevenson (Chelsea, Gene Loves Jezebel, The Hot Club, The Alarm) also played on various tracks and i'm pretty sure although not credited on the album that Steve New (Rich Kids, Iggy Pop, P.I.L.) also added some guitar work.
Other info: The bulk of the "Kiss Me Deadly" album was going to originally be released as the "Sweet Revenge" album but was scrapped and was later released on cd as disc two of the Generation X Anthology 3cd collection.
Steve Jones also played on a couple of tracks on Siouxsie and the Banshees "Kaleidoscope" album (1981)

Both Steve Jones and Billy Idol were heavily into Heroin around the recording of "KMD"
Hope this helps mate cheers

Cool! Thanks for the clarification and information, Interesting stuff. I can't remember where/when I got this record, or Valley of the dolls. I'll definitely give both a spin now for sure.Marky Dread wrote:Oh and the fourth bloke on the cover is James Stevenson.Marky Dread wrote:Steve played in the studio on a couple of the "Kiss Me Deadly" album tracks most notably on the original version of "Dancing With Myself" which was a minor hit for Gen X and of course a much bigger hit when Billy Idol went solo, also of note John McGeoch (Magazine, Banshees, Armoury Show, P.I.L.) and James Stevenson (Chelsea, Gene Loves Jezebel, The Hot Club, The Alarm) also played on various tracks and i'm pretty sure although not credited on the album that Steve New (Rich Kids) also added some guitar work.

Re: Generation X / Steve Jones?
Terry was Gen X's last permanent drummer before they disbanded in '81. Some of his best work, I think. When he's not just a mercenary collecting a paycheck and does have his head in it he can chip in a little positive contribution.x3em wrote:Got some more of my old vinyl back.
