Re: FAO Hoy
Not just Hoy, holy fuck that is awesome. I eagerly await watching old Pete & Pete and All That (and others).
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

Re: FAO Hoy
I would watch Pete & Pete.
The rest of it? Bah. Nickelodeon needs to go back to showing Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Dangermouse, and Belle and Sebastian.

You sure those aren't just names of indie bands?Wolter wrote:I would watch Pete & Pete.

P&P was great. I would and do watch Are You Afraid of the Dark? reruns. There are like two episodes that were generally creepy.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Nick in the 80s was such a weird damn mix of Canadian, British, French, Japanese, Spanish, and etc. shows.

The Nick I knew was almost exclusively Canadian shows. People talked in a way I had never heard before. Then there were all those Universal Studios Orlando filmed game shows like Double Dare and Guts which were clearly American because they were less lame.Wolter wrote:matedog wrote:You sure those aren't just names of indie bands?

Re: FAO Hoy
Throughout the 80s, there was this puppets-with-human show called Pinwheel that I think was Canadian, but had short animated bits from all over the world. It was like a low rent Sesame Street without the pesky educational stuff. And it lasted like 6 hours. Half the stuff on there was weird ass British stop motion or even weirder Brazilian claymation. In hindsight, I'm almost certain the secret audience was stoners.matedog wrote:The Nick I knew was almost exclusively Canadian shows. People talked in a way I had never heard before. I don't remember the point of this story, other than to say Canada is lame.

I told you we needed to separate and burn the head and body of the 90s. Now it's coming back, more Hoyish than ever.Rat Patrol wrote:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/0 ... 43964.html
