I'd like a copy of the poster without that out of focus picture.101Walterton wrote:I'd like a copy of the poster without the writing.

It's, like, an expression of raw anger and emotion, yeah? I think it's a pretty powerful image. Very primal.Dr. Medulla wrote:I think I've said this before, but I've never found the LC cover/the photo all that compelling. That it's become so iconic is entirely lost on me. The only Clash album sleeve that really interests me is GEER. I'm also a fan of the "London Calling" single sleeve (got a shirt with that one on it).
It's overrated take the Elvis fonts away and it just wouldn't work. All that rubbish about Elvis's guitar going up and Simmo's bass going down crap. I like the sleeve but it ain't the greatest thing ever.Flex wrote:It's, like, an expression of raw anger and emotion, yeah? I think it's a pretty powerful image. And yet it's always seemed rather static to me. That raw power aspect just doesn't come thru to me.Flex wrote:It's, like, an expression of raw anger and emotion, yeah? Forgot about that one. The only thing marring them is the top bar—it's a sore thumb in both cases.Marky Dread wrote:The GEER sleeve is better and so is this...
Yeah I agree that top bar is not needed. But that image sums up the band's name perfectly.Dr. Medulla wrote:And yet it's always seemed rather static to me. Definitely iconic, but overrated nonetheless. I think it would have worked better with something different written on the side, or maybe the band's name on the left instead on top. Or how about the other shots Pennie Smith took of the bass smash? Those would have also looked good adjacent to the font/lettering instead of the oddly positioned version we have now. Or even Vetter than all of that, Ray Lowry artwork instead of the photo, with perhaps the same title. This is what bootlegs are for though..Marky Dread wrote:It's overrated take the Elvis fonts away and it just wouldn't work.
