Re: TRAC Demo's
Euroshima's got a surprisingly hard edge to it. Bit ballsier than the others.
The Prolific's a little bit of Motown/soul musical tourism, which Mick's never good at (see Shittsville). But the difference here is that he sings his fucking ass off. I am blown away by the vocal passion on these demos. Was he just bashful about his singing voice on record? This isn't the same guy who nasally double-or-more tracked nearly every Clash solo he ever sang or seemed to prefer intentionally off-key in B.A.D.

Re: TRAC Demo's
i just want to say i rarely post here but lurk all the time. this forum is just incredible with all the discussions.. i came in thinking i knew a lot about the clash/B.A.D. etc but soon realized i knew nothing at all.
that said, i can't stop listening to these demo's. thank you thank you thank you to everyone responsible for getting this stuff out there.
these demo's seem to me the logical step between 'combat rock' (and whoever mentioned 'sean flynn' totally nailed it) and 'TIBAD'.. i'm so glad i'm getting to hear them. awesome.
so.. did mick or robin or whomever write the lyrics to 'euroshima' after watching 'threads'/'testament'/'the day after'.. ??

Re: TRAC Demo's
I am liking these quite a bit. I can't wait to see what the more audio-talented folks (i.e., more than me) can do to clean them up.
I'm with Rattie on the vocals. Mick sounds great; I wish he would have more of this sound on the official releases.

The Prolific was probably written by Topper because it sounds like "just another hit" on his album.
Re: TRAC Demo's
I'll add my thanks too. Something oddly satisfying about listening to the sound fading up and down on Interaction? Like being taken back in time to listening to cassettes again.

Thanks to everyone.
I think these demos are great.

Found that rather annoying and did a fix on the volume on that one... couldn't resist...laxman wrote:I'll add my thanks too. Something oddly satisfying about listening to the sound fading up and down on Interaction? Like being taken back in time to listening to cassettes again.

Mick sounded sadly aggrieved when I told him these tapes were being distributed (to quote: "what next"?). It's nice to see people enjoying them.

Well, tell him it's really fucking good stuff. It's got a so-called "Clash II" board convinced of its worth.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote:Mick sounded sadly aggrieved when I told him these tapes were being distributed (to quote: "what next"?). It's nice to see people enjoying them.

I take it that Mick still has his own copy.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote:Mick sounded sadly aggrieved when I told him these tapes were being distributed (to quote: "what next"?). It's nice to see people enjoying them.
I think my only "complaint" is that there's too much sax...I can't listen to the songs without thinking of that greased up, mulleted sax-playing dude in The Lost Boys...I guess the sax was very '80s.

Re: TRAC Demo's
After a few listens, I'm really fucking digging these songs.
I know it's not BAD, but this is the kind of thing Sony should be adding to the This Is BAD remaster, instead of those 12" mixes.

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board
