Help with BAD demos

Post by oliver »

Back in the day, my sister used to know Leo and he gave me a cassette of demos from the first album... I thought it was long lost but I found it in a box in my basement a couple of days ago.

The cassette itself was played in a dying stereo and I think it wiped out some of the music :-( I remember it got chewed up quite badly and all I could hear was some whistling sounds

Does anyone fancy trying to get some audio from it? I'd be willing to send it on. Even if it's not intact, it might be nice to get some audio from it.

The track listing is: (and it's written by Leo, and his writing is not the easiest to decipher)

Interaction
Nation
Apprentice (not sure on the title, it's written as: Appertice)
Ducane Rd
Fare Dodgers
The Bottom Line
Euroshima
The Prolific

Winning
Gone to the Dogs
Ringmaster
Astrufure (no idea, thats what it looks like)
Dancefloor
The Real
Hello Habana

I can scan the cassette cover on Monday when I go into work

WTF...... This gotta be some kinda "holy grale". How much of the tape is wiped out? Are there any complete songs left?

I would love to give it a go!

I echo the sentiment that, if true, this could definitely be a holy grail of sorts. I hope someone here has some expertise in tape recovery...

Wow, someone posted the track list for the "TRAC tape" here like a year ago and this looks like it plus the last three tracks, "Astrufure" then being "Astro Turf".
Hope this is true and that it´s possible to recover the music. Btw this would have been a nice disc 2 on the upcoming legacy edition of TIBAD.

Yep, as Esmark posted, sure sounds like the TRAC tapes. In the "right" order too, suggesting they're the "final" mixes, but can't say without hearing.

thanks for the offers... I'll be getting the cassette out on Monday and crossing my fingers. The only other unreleased stuff I got has already been shared (the Sudden Impact video from Mick's basement and the Keep off the Grass video on the beach somewhere)

Quality find Oliver more excited by this than the reissue.

Should make a back up copy of that cassette don't risk losing it in the post.

Great find Oliver!

I'm looking forward to whatever comes of this, it's a pity the TIBAD re-release couldn't have included stuff like this.
