No. 10 Dubbing St.
Hi all! Had some news on the Smoke and Mirrors Sound System BAD tribute “No. 10 Dubbing St.” All the tracks are now streaming on Spotify, YouTube, etc. Coming soon are dub versions of the tracks done by some of their favorite engineers and finally, the vocal tracks/dubs will be released on double vinyl.
And now for the good part: I’ve been given permission to share the songs in lossless format for you lot to enjoy. Play it loud and help spread the word!

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop

I'm liking it a lot too... but a bit confused by "Ticket" - if you'd have given me 50 guesses as to what song it was, I don't think I'd have got there. I like it, but it's not Ticket.

I’m not positive on this but I think they released this on Windrush Day last year as an updated take on “Ticket” and I guess they just decided to go with it for the album rather than cover the original. I’ll try to find out some more info.

Thank you for sharing, I am enjoying it. Just got to Ticket and I'm glad the earlier posts explained it!

Here’s further info on why “Ticket” isn’t a straight up cover:
“Don Letts in his own words said the lyrics were awful so I focused on his lines in the song that referred to the Jamaican/immigrant UK experience and shared them with Tippa and Brother Culture. I asked them to relate their lives and histories. Tippa came up with the hook and verses, Then Brother Culture complemented Tippa’s story with his own. I kept the chord structures and recreated the original keyboard fake flute sample riffs with real horns.”

Thanks for clarifying... I was kind of hoping to hear them attempt the faster Don bits if it was a straight cover :)sonnyburnit wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 1:19amHere’s further info on why “Ticket” isn’t a straight up cover:

Ticket is undoubtedly the weak link on the original album.
Re: No. 10 Dubbing St.
Although it manages to reference Ian Botham, which I always appreciated, as someone who played cricket.

'WG disgraced' is a great line too
