I think the board is actually doing ok in the face of stiff competition from FB, Twitter and numerous other modern distractions. It is going through one of its quieter periods but you'll always find the best in-depth Clash and BAD discussion here, especially if a new release is forthcoming (see the Strummer Anthology thread). Anyway, I kinda like it when it's not too big and you feel like you know everyone, some boards I frequent can be a bit impersonal.

Anyway...

Applecart
V13
E=MC2
Medicine Show
Around the Girl In 80 Ways

Complete Control
Straight To Hell
Something About England
London Calling
Rudie Can't Fail
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I completely agree with your comment above Heston & I cannot fault you on your choice of tracks. My only proviso is that my choice of Clash songs especially tends to change on an almost weekly basis.

Yes it is a low point, I still check everyday but don't post that much. My last post about Mick producing a new band went nowhere.

Sightsee MC
James Brown
I Turned out a Punk

Street Parade
Mag 7
Death or Glory/Card Cheat

These can change at any give moment but Street Parade and Sightsee will always be number 1

I guess there isn't much Clash related news going around, huh? I look at this as a little club for bullshitting. I love bullshitting.

I would probably choose anything by the original line up over the BAD II stuff. The one exception may be BAD and the Nighttime Ride.

I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I've studied the phenomenon of neo-provincialism in self-isolating online communities but this place takes the fucking cake.

That song is really conflicting for me. I love the music but the lyrics, if you can call them that, are appalling. It's times like these that I wish they were sung in a different language so I could remain ignorant.

Top 3 BAD
Medicine Show
Beyond the Pale
Union Jack
I feel bad not picking E=MC2, Stone Thames, Sightsee MC, James Brown, Contact, House Arrest

Top 3 Clash
Spanish Bombs
Complete Control
Clash City Rockers
Putting a little stick about. Putting the frighteners on flash little twerps

None of the lyrics are great on Entering a New Ride, I think they were just going for a vibe rather than any real meaning. It's a shame because some of the tunes were good and the production was the meatiest they ever had, especially the drums.

I think the vibe around the lyrics was 'aerobics class'

Nothing off Entering A New Ride deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the original band's material.

I'd really struggle with choosing a top five.
