The BAD Files

Post by appleseed1 »

I can't recall if that series of bootleg rarities comps ever had a physical release or was digital only? I downloaded them back then, but can't find my old copies. The few I've seen floating around on my usual file-sharing program are all 192kbps.

The answer to this is a partial yes. The people who created this planned on releasing all of the volumes as professional looking compact discs one after the other, but creating them was a costly endeavor in both time and money and the people who wanted them had to pay lots as well (and people in the US had to deal with overseas shipping and terrible pound to dollar exchange rates on top of that) and I don't think they were able to quite finish creating and releasing the set before their business venture crashed. I want to say they got 7 of them released before they stopped. And unfortunately I was young and scraping by and on the wrong side of the Atlantic when this was going on so I wasn't able to purchase them (even though I would have loved to if I only had a little more money to burn). Therefore, I'm just going by my recollections. Maybe someone on here was fortunate enough to procure them and can give more exact details.

Some information here.

"The original disk from Pirate Radio Numero Uno with the original
cover artwork. Other artwork has been produced by some websites
which they designed and put up themselves, possibly to take credit
for the project. Which is a shame because the original covers had
and informative booklet with info on the songs and which releases
they were extracted from. It is believed they originated on the old
BAD website where subscribers could donate tracks to the project
and those that were inserted were all credited in the booklets.
All songs are by Big Audio Dynamite unless otherwise stated after
the track. This is the first of a set of eight disks that was to be
"The BAD Files" which basically brought together 7", 12", CD, promos
and hard to find remixes from soundtracks and releases in other
countries outwith the UK. Vol. 8 was not released in 2001 but a
draft of the track listing was put up on various websites.
Other people put together a disk with that listing up on line,
which was wrong! The track listing was changed by PR#1 before it was
released and to keep the theme going through the different Vol's,
so was the cover art artwork. Vol 8 was finished in 2001 but was not
released that year possibly down to a clampdown from authorities. It
appeared a good few years later. After the original eight disks
there was to be an additional Vol, called "The BAD File XTRA".
This was to put more obscure tracks together, and it eventually
surfaced in 2007 as a 2xCD."

I hadn't read that far down. Not sure I remember that line up either! Maybe a credit for a sample (just guessing)?

Say what you will about his guitar playing but the man is a hell of a racist, gotta give him that.
