I understand anyone who doesn't like "Lose This Skin" as Tymon's vocals are an aquired taste. However I really like this track a lot. I wonder if it would have more takers as an instrumental?

Re: Stone Thames
Think i only ever listened to it once but isn't there a backwards track on the Stone Roses debut album too? Whatever about such indulgence on a triple album, it seems unforgivably so on a single, unless there's something daring and creative about the Stone Roses version that I'm unaware of. Nor did it seem to have much negative effect when it came to the critical reception of the album.

The fact that I laboured the impression it was a female vocalist for some time notwithstanding, I like Lose This Skin a lot. I think some kind of instrumental variant would have been a trillion times preferable than that Mensforth Hill atrocity.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Sep 2017, 9:34amI understand anyone who doesn't like "Lose This Skin" as Tymon's vocals are an aquired taste. A number of people I know thought that. It always sounded like a higher pitched male voice to me.Low Down Low wrote: ↑10 Sep 2017, 10:35amThe fact that I laboured the impression it was a female vocalist for some time notwithstanding, I like Lose This Skin a lot. I'll be honest and say I'd forgotten Lose This Skin had a male vocal!
Yes, I do know who Tymon Dogg is. For some reason I've been 'remembering' it as being Ellen Foley!

I've liked Lose This Skin since I bought the album in 1980, Tymon's voice is good for the song

I'd use the term "written" very loosely.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Sep 2017, 9:29amWolter wrote: ↑10 Sep 2017, 1:37amOh shit. Works superbly. You need music to makes you feel uncomfortable sometimes.
In fact, when you add Charlie Don't Surf as an opener and Street Parade as a climax, it's a sublime side of vinyl.
The only time it really ever worked for me was also on Westway.
Yep I guess as it was written for an imaginary Tv theme that's how it would work best.

Did BAD ever play I-Beam? It seems a lot of *cough* 'new wave' bands of that era did when they visited San Fran.

I realised the other day why I had never researched the 'I-Beam closet scene'. I think I always heard these lyrics as 'how mean does it seem?'
For some reason my mind was then transported back in time to the school playground and dubious re-workings of Kool and the Gang's 'Get Down on It'.

Lose This Skin is one of my favorite tracks on the album. I just think it sounds quite mad but then the whole album is quite the trip.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Sep 2017, 9:34amI understand anyone who doesn't like "Lose This Skin" as Tymon's vocals are an aquired taste. don't hesitate if some want more stuff like this
for lose this skin it works pretty well but it's unfortunatly not always the case it depends of the original mix (where the vocal is "in the mix frequency")
but we can always try !
