To elaborate -
1980-05-20 Riot breaks out throughout the show
1980-05-24 Incredible incredible show
1980-05-27 Harmonica player Lew Lewis guests on a bunch of songs
1980-06-01 Another crazy great show
1980-06-03 lesser version of the 6/1 show but we have some great videos
1980-06-10 Very good soundboard show
1980-06-12 Another riotous show
1980-06-14 Great soundboard sampler
1980-06-17 Reggae heavy show and super intense

1981-05-10 Great great show
1981-05-16 great show
1981-05-21 Great great show
1981-05-23 Great show

It is worth mentioning that 1980 Clash great shows mean some experimentalism, but mostly super intense, visceral shows. 1981 great shows are great on a more musical level. Take the One More Time - Street Parade melody on 1981-05-16. They didn't do that in 1980. Well there was that Charlie Don't Surf - White Riot on 1980-05-24, but that was less beautiful and more visceral and dirty.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

To challenge my May 1981 question, I'm quite fond of March 1980. One of the shows has Ian Dury on guest vocals on Janie Jones.
