The topic is pretty boring anyway. More Sony schlock. Who gives a shit. I love the Clash but the future is now. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

So can lung butter expectorated in the same vessels.matedog wrote:I'm going to beg upper management to give me two more weeks. Re: Revolution Rock Live DVD.
Thread resurrection time? Cue the Mott the Hoople and "Roll Away the Stone?"
1. Is Revolution Rock worth having my wife give to me as a gift in the near future?
2. M y (almost) 14 year old daughter has gone veggie. I cured her mother with bacon (sorry about the bad pun but it worked) but this isn't working on the kid. Suggestions?
3. Gene, Beat poets are best read when you're young. As you get older it seems like just a lot of self indulgent swagger...in my wise old geezer opinion.
4. The "Whole food", farmers market, buy local trend is great and makes a lot of sense on so many levels but--it's expensive and excludes the lower income classes that could most benefit from a good diet (before someone writes them into their eugenics master plan).
5. I saw Carbon Silicon this winter in a tiny club with pretty cheap ticket prices. It seemed like passion to me. I'm sure if he wanted to he could get a band together to play the festival and fairground circuit. He didn't. I liked the fact that he didn't play a Clash song....(at this show anyway).
Was there anything else this thread covered?

Kerouac might be a lot of "self-indulgent swagger," but Burroughs stands above that. I think Burroughs is better than Kerouac and Corso better than Ginsberg.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .
