Best Live Clash Triple Punch

Post by matedog »

With all do respect to Shibuya's superlative Somebody Got Murdered-Clampdown-Radio Clash combo, my vote goes to the absurdly amazing Capital Radio-Charlie Don't Surf-White Riot from the 1980-05-24 Scandinavium show. It's just a whole mess of noise, beautiful, ugly, and splendid all at once. Of course the "mess of noise" varies for each song-

*Capital Radio is a "let's take this great song and beat the living shit out of it like we normally do but just a little more this time" approach.
*Charlie Don't Surf is a "let's take a vague idea for a song, drench the vocals in reverb and freak out for two minutes" approach.
*White Riot is a "where the hell are we? Oh fuck it" approach.

Just awesome awesome stuff.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Does CK have a rival van that goes around brainwashing legit IMCTers?

Solid pick Matey, but I'm afraid that Rattie has a point about the lack of Terry so I'm gonna have to foe you.

P.S. But seriously, awesome song selection.

CK installed a brainwash gas tank in the ventilation system in the kill van. I'm the lone survivor!

Ironic that the only person here who everyone agrees needed to be killvan'd is somehow the only one to survive the purge...

That was supposed to be knockout gas in the van, not brainwash gas. Wolt!...you ordered the wrong part number from the AC Delco catalog again.

You know B.A. has a little...anxiety...about flying. He needs a John Madden-level drugging to get transported from the KILLvan to the KILLplane on the KILLtarmac, not be convinced that this isn't the most horrific drumming ever: http://www.livevideo.com/video/1EA6A44F ... -or-s.aspx.

as opposed to bootleg IMCTers like Chico, i.e. inferior fifth generation copies... :shifty:

I've been sucking off the teat of the Indergrad welfare state for years without a valid work visa, so I've never been 'legit' anyway.

New lossless 5/24/80 up http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7AXPITIK. There a bunch of others that I will pass on to Flex when I get to a good stopping point.

It was good knowing you guys for a few years. Once all the threads become anti-Pogues, I will probably lose interest.

I don't think anyone here is anti-Pogues other than CK. I think most of the rest of the people here run the gamut from love to indifference.
