Did Paul Simonon have really long arms,or were Mick and Joe just short ?
When Paul played bass it was always lower than his bottom E
Mick and Joe seem to hold there gheetars at a much more sorta normal height.

Shame Sid's wasnt a tiny bit lower then he wouldnt have been able to reach the strings

He must have long arms. I find it hard to play bass guitar accurately when wearing it that low, and I am taller than Paul and have longish arms.

Surely its relative to your height not the height from the ground

I just recalled this thread while watching the Fridays clip of Guns of Brixton - it looks even lower when Joe (featuring his Pee Wee Herman punk look) plays Paul's bass.

Methinks accuracy was not a high priority of Simo's.

He also used a heavy-ass, maximum-weight Precision...so that probably also had to do why he wore it low. On long tours the weight of the thing chafing him around the shoulder strap would frequently gnaw all the skin raw off his shoulder. He apparently had to resort to all kinds of bandaging and tape just to get through some of the shows on the Asian tour because he had no skin left (so constant pain and discomfort may have been a contributing factor to his playing being so all-time-worst on that tour).
