I'd wager Joey owned a Bay City Rollers album or single.

He indeed did grab stuff on their first visit to the UK. Joey and Dee Dee were both fans of glam rock. The title "Blitzkrieg Bop" is a nod to "Ballroom Blitz" and the D.U.M.B. was inspired by the Rollers S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y Night.
