According the John Tobler & Miles book, “…the Clash were invited to play but (they) refused…”.
Is it true or is it some kind of urban legend?
The only data we have is the almost coincidence of the dates between the Clash concerts at the Palladium in New York (20 and 21 September 1979) and the MUSE concert at Madison Square Garden (21 and 22 September 1979).
Were the Clash really invited to play at the MUSE concerts?
