Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty

I always thought they were talking about the snake
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

ANYHOOO....
White Man is not only my favorite Clash song, it's my favorite SONG. I sing it in the shower while my conditioner is in to kill the time. I used to sing it to VH, Jr. as a lullaby. I sing it at the top of my lungs every time it comes on in my car. I walked down the aisle to it at my wedding (OK, that's a lie). It's a fucking masterpiece and you are wrong if you feel otherwise.

Normally I care a lot more about music than lyrics but this one is a major exception. "Charging from the bass, knives to the treble?" Hot damn.

Re: (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais
I remember going out with a girl called Jane when 'White Man' came out. I told her I loved punk, loved reggae and adored The Clash and this song put everything together. She replied with, "Do you have anything by Elton John?" I caan't believe it's over 40 years since I split with her!
