Think that’s the most I’ve heard topper speak in a clash interview! Thanks for posting.

Cool stuff. Hadn't seen that either. Looks like someone filming off of a tv.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Looks like he had a chance to view the footage courtesy of the archive and recorded it with his phone. That's not a British telly in the 70s.

Oh yeah, I assumed it was a recent video capture. Weird that someone maybe had access to the archive and knew it would be of interest to the superfans and filmed it using an iphone or something of the like.

I'm thinking that's all he had access to. I think they charge super high prices for official use of footage. I remember someone contacting ITV about the 1979 Alright Now footage and were quoted some insane price.

That's a great find, never seen it before. Shame they didn't get to play live on the show, like Generation X did...

Always liked that clip. Valley of the Dolls is also up on YouTube from the same appearance.

Good work – heartening to know there's still stuff to be unearthed?!
Jesus,
Clash – living and breathing...in the capital
...on the cover of Time Out;
a black guy – presenting the show (back when it meant something)
...London used to be the tits!
Shame it's so f**ked up now.

Only issue is that the coloUrs are off. His smartphone's camera isn't very good?

Presume we don’t know how long ago it was filmed either.
