Any tracks Joe did NOT play on?
Just trying to get some fresh discussion going and I'm sure I could probably answer this myself with a little digging/thinking...but are there any tracks that are completely Joe-less?

It still bugs me that Mick did the three part harmony for this song, he had two other capable singers in Joe and Topper.Kory wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 2:01pmJust off the top of my head: Inoculated City, probably, right?WestwayKid wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 12:40pmJust trying to get some fresh discussion going and I'm sure I could probably answer this myself with a little digging/thinking...but are there any tracks that are completely Joe-less?
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

If I hated my bandmates I probably wouldn't let them sing on my song either.Heston wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 2:25pmIt still bugs me that Mick did the three part harmony for this song, he had two other capable singers in Joe and Topper.Kory wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 2:01pmJust off the top of my head: Inoculated City, probably, right?WestwayKid wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 12:40pmJust trying to get some fresh discussion going and I'm sure I could probably answer this myself with a little digging/thinking...but are there any tracks that are completely Joe-less?

I think WK meant no Joe at all. I think there's probably a lot of Clash songs without his guitar.Silent Majority wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 4:11pmRock the Casbah, yeah? No Strummer guitar sound on that record.

Do you think that's why it always sounded terrible live?Silent Majority wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 4:11pmRock the Casbah, yeah? No Strummer guitar sound on that record.
I honestly can't think of any other song that had zero Joe.

There's not really a place for him in RTC's musical universe.JennyB wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 4:35pmDo you think that's why it always sounded terrible live?Silent Majority wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 4:11pmRock the Casbah, yeah? No Strummer guitar sound on that record.

Yes. I meant completely without any recorded contribution from Mr. Strummer. What about something like Hitsville UK? That's a Mick song through and through and I've never heard Joe in the vocal mix. Is it just assumed he must have played some guitar on the track?Heston wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 4:13pmI think WK meant no Joe at all. I'd put that one in there. I actually can't imagine he did much of anything on Mick-sung tracks post-GEER unless there's a backup vocal.WestwayKid wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 6:41pmYes. I think so. Think it was just Mick, Topper, and Watt-Roy. Mickey Gallagher might also be on it...but I'm thinking it is completely Joe-less.

Agreed as I’m pretty sure Joe was singing inoculated city when they were playing it live in late 1981Heston wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 2:25pmIt still bugs me that Mick did the three part harmony for this song, he had two other capable singers in Joe and Topper.Kory wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 2:01pmJust off the top of my head: Inoculated City, probably, right?WestwayKid wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 12:40pmJust trying to get some fresh discussion going and I'm sure I could probably answer this myself with a little digging/thinking...but are there any tracks that are completely Joe-less?
Somebody was trying to tell me that CDs are better than vinyl because they don't have any surface noise. I said, "Listen, mate, "life" has surface noise."
