I have that "Clash FAQ" book sitting on my nightstand, but I have yet to open it.
Those "FAQ" books can be pretty fun. The only one I've really read is "The Beach Boys FAQ" and it was a solid read. Nothing substantial, but a fun collection of thoughts and info - some of which made me laugh out loud. I think it depends on how well the author truly "knows" the band and their music.

Looking at Gary Jucha's Amazon bio it mentions that he "is currently writing a coming-of-age novel employing the Clash's legendary Bonds residency in Times Square in May to June 1981 as the backdrop."
Just what the world needs another Clash coming of age story.

Indeed. Mine is the Only One That Matters.

I'm imagining a story that features a young drummer, probably has an affection for high fibre food and a bizarre aversion to redheads, who dreams of seeing the Clash, and when he finally gets the chance, it's Terry behind the kit. And our hero, distraught, turns to engineering.

I'd "read" it.

Thx to all. I'm looking for a day by day account (and recordings) of the Rope sessions. Hope springs eternal. Looks like Route 19 it is... I'll read it while my collection of barely listenable audience tapes plays... Its been 40 years now, have we heard everything that was recorded from the early years? If anyone is hoarding "private" or "no trade" recordings, shame on you. Shame, I say!! BasingSt1978

I enjoyed reading Route 19 whilst listening to LC and the Vanilla Tapes. Some of the songs took on a whole new meaning and some just made sense.

I want a Clash 2.0 coming of age story where the young hero dreams of meeting Joe, but meets Vince instead and learns some valuable life lessons.

Don't you dare - he almost stole Depeche Mode from me. Don't let him steal the Clash (even CTC era Clash) too.

Vince White is the official musician of the alt-right!

And, unlike DM, he would probably embrace that declaration.
