Re: Marky Dread Remasters
I don’t think it’s well known that it was in fact the 20th. The Clash, Pennie Smith, and Sony didn’t know. Thanks to David and his vid w/ compelling evidence, more people now know.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Sep 2017, 5:15pmYep I'm well aware of the Clash history thanks mate. It's well known about 20th being the correct date for Paul's frustration. I couldn't find any pics I liked from the 21st so it is what is. I knew it was bound to get mentioned here and so we're talking about The Clash so win/win.BR16ADE_R055E wrote: ↑10 Sep 2017, 5:10pmRe: the artwork, the 2 photos taken by Ebet Roberts with Joe wearing a purple shirt, are from the gig on the 20th (the night Simmo smashed his bass), not the 21st.Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Sep 2017, 12:45pmGaffer tape, gaffer tape, gaffer tape...'ere comes Marky Dread with the gaffer tape!
Hey at least I didn't use the other pic of Paul smashing his bass. I love the pic of Joe playing the bass on the rear cover. I guess if people want a more factual thing they can always make some artwork for themselves however I'm more than pleased with this.
Well, at least I didn’t mention the other photo that was taken in February (backstage in Berkeley)!
I do like that photo of Joe playing the bass (that was about to be obliterated) except for that hideous purple shirt.

Re: Marky Dread Remasters
Chaps - what song is Joe playing bass on in that purple shirt pic? They weren't playing "Guns of Brixton" yet (I saw them September 12 in St. Paul and they played about six songs from 'London Calling', but not GOB). Plus, they didn't play it at the Palladium show (Sept. 19?) that the famous FM boot is from.
EDIT: never mind. I guess they did play GOB at that gig. Will re-listen to my YouTube rip (sorry Marky, can't dig your new remaster cuz I'm dumb and my shit's all fucked ). Anyway, this show was my third boot, early '90s, after '16 Tracks' and 'Live in Paris' which I got in early '80 or so.

Why you spend so much time on such a shitty band that so hated its fans is beyond me, but to each his/her own hairshirt. Thanks as always, Unca Marky.

Thanks Marky! I haven't had time to A/B the Palladium, but Paul sounds pretty decent to my ear. That's a task and a half, so good work!
